Swedish jazz pioneer Nils Berg has been active on the European Jazz Scene since the debut record of his band The Stoner in 2004. As a composer he won’t dodge projects that
cross over conventional borders - collaborations with electronica artist Forss, choreographer Dorte Olesen, and swedish indie-darlings "Peter, Bjorn and John" and "Loney Dear" to mention a few. In 2007 he was appointed "Jazz In Sweden"-artist, touring Europe with his quintet NB5. For the new band Cinemascope, he stripped down the quintet to a trio, to make room for a dozen guest artist, joining the band on video.
- This is the smallest band with the biggest opportunities. We simply grabbed our favourite players off of Youtube and made new music, colliding the movies with live music. There's a malaysian singer and a marimba player from Ghana, as well as favourite neighbours from Stockholm caught on film. It's a colourful orchestra!
Live on stage, the core trio consists of Nils Berg (woodwinds/electronics), bass player Josef Kallerdahl and drummer Christopher Cantillo. Josef is a member of world-touring jazz trio Music Music Music as well as founder of HOOB Records and Cristopher has been heard with Mattias Ståhl, Joe Williamsson among others.

After moving to Stockholm he attends to the Royal Music Academy for studies of composition, improvisation and the woodwinds, while exploring new musical grounds in between jazz and alternative pop together with bands like Oskar Schönning, ”Peter Bjorn And John” and Forss. Through the years he has played with major Swedish jazz acts like Rebecka Törnqvist, Goran Kajfes and Lina Nyberg, when not on the road with pop afficionados Loney Dear or Mando Diao.
